The Jammu and Kashmir high court on Thursday adjourned for two weeks the hearing of the alleged fake encounter case involving Army Chief designate General Bikram Singh.
Eleven persons, including five army personnel, five policemen and a civilian were accused of conspiring to kill and murdering Showkat Ahmad Kataria, a priest in a mosque at Zadibal in Srinagar, in a fake encounter on October 4, 2006. The accused include Colonel Vikram Singh of 13 Rashtriya Rifles, his second in command V K Sharma, Major Rishi, Junior Commissioned Officer Puran Singh and Naik Satya Lal.

The People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) on Monday said assembly elections should be held only after restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and asked the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government to honour its commitment made on the floor of Parliament.
The voluminous report has proposed redrawing of the Anantnag Parliamentary seat by including Rajouri and Poonch from the Jammu region, besides carrying out massive changes in the Kashmir division, they said.

The apex court also put embargo on filing of any fresh writ petition challenging constitutional validity on abrogation of Article 370.
